Club ConFuzion

(Trista Ray and Daphne Ruth Jenkins snacking on some Manitee Goldburger.)

Damn, I’ve been a lazy lush. It’s been weeks since my fabulous Goth night debut at FuZion Night Club and I’m just now getting around to writing about it. I have a whole album of pics over at Flickr, but I'm sure you all want the dirty details. Well, needless to say, it was a smashing success. The crowd seemed to absolutely adore my dark and demented side. It was an absolute blast being able to play up my demented tendencies instead of trying to tame them for a more mainstream audience.

The
luscious Lane was kind enough to escort me for the evening. He looked resplendent (as always) in a lovely black chapeau and veil. Upon arrival, we were greeted by the sexy organizer of Club ConFuzion, Shawna the Dead. Shawna is one of my sweetest promoters and an absolute living dead doll.

The hostess and emcee, Manitee Goldburger, proved to be a rioutous performer. Her version of “My Humps” complete with a huge hunch back brought the house down. I also really enjoyed her Tourette’s Ballad peppered with random expletives.

Trista Ray, the Broadway Baby, was the other performer of the night. She got sloshed to one of my favorite Broadway tunes, “The Ladies Who Lunch”. The chorus of “I’ll drink to that,” is practically my motto. Her other number was appropriately enough from Evil Dead: The Musical.

I opened with a brand new number, “Peek-a-Boo” by Siouxsie and The Banshees. Let’s face facts; it’s been many years since my Goth kid days at ManRay in Cambridge, Massachusetts. Rather than figure out what the darklings are listening to these days, I figured it would be safer to just delve into the ancient past of my youth for a classic tune. It paid off because the crowd couldn't get enough of my tradmark peepers.

For my second number, I pulled out my “I Don’t Wanna Fall In Love” routine that Shawna loves so much. It really is a crowd pleaser. I mixed things up this time around, though. For example, I spent part of the song humping Michael’s face. He sure does have a pretty mouth! I also spent more time in rehearsal practicing undoing my bustier. I didn’t have to struggle so much this time to whip my chest out at the end of the song.

As usual, the evening's festivities did not end there. We all ended up at Michael and Austin's den of iniquity for a little post-show nightcap. Never one to stay out of the spotlight, Austin treated us to a little preview of some of the fashions he had planning for his trip to Burning Man. Cowboy, take me away!

It really was a wonderful evening. The best part is that it’s all gonna happen again. The big news is that Club ConFuzion is moving to Saturday nights starting September 22 and every week thereafter. I’ve been asked to return for a special kick-off production that will include Louisville’s own
Hedwig and the Angry Inch. Mark your calendars and I’ll be sure to post more information as it becomes available.

Smooches,
Daphne
