Hotlanta Update

I may be up here in Looseville, Kentucky, but I still get all the tasty dish about what's happening back in my old stomping grounds of Hotlanta, Georgia. The big buzz these days is that the 9th Annual East Point Possums Show which will be held on Saturday, June 17 at the Wagon Works. This is the first year that this P.A.L.S. benefit will be held indoors. It has an absolutely amazing line-up of entertainers:

First up, there's ME. Yes darlings, I've managed to rearrange my hectic schedule so as to be part of the festivities. I'm planning to premiere a brand new number that I've been working feverishly on. Trust me; you won't want to miss it.

On top of that, it's going to be like a Jenkins family reunion.
Marsha B. Jenkins, the head model of Drag-O-Rama is planning a big gender-bending spectacle with Pinkie and Yolanda as back-up dancers. It's sure to be Abba-lutely mind blowing. In the meantime, the gals have answered the desperate pleas of their fan...I mean fans...and recorded a short podcast during their brief hiatus until they start the Drag-O-Drama show back up again in a few weeks. Sadly, our lovely sister, Linda Hand will not be able to join us. She is going on a Manhunt that weekend up at The River's Edge Campground. Lock your cabins, boys!

It will also be great to see Alexandria Martin, that larger than life personality without whom the Jenkins clan would never have learned the joys of using Sharpies as part of their beauty routine. Alexandria has been diligently working through the pageant scene around Hotlanta. After a hotly debated first runner-up showing at Miss Cobb County at LeBuzz, this crowd favorite and multiple title holder failed to even place at the Miss Gay Atlanta Pageant sponsored by Swinging Richards. I hear the dancers are still recovering from the mauling Ms. Martin gave them after the show. According to gossip hound Pinkie Jenkins, "Both pageants stunk of favoritism. Word is that Alexandria has quit her position at LeBuzz as a result of the scandal." Pinkie later clarified, "I have that from very reliable sources but I have not heard it from Alexandria's mouth."

I'm also looking forward to seeing my gal pal,
Gigi Monroe. This Atlanta Drag Idol recently dropped me a note to beam about becoming a permanent full-time member of Charlie Brown's Cabaret. Unfortunately, I just received word that Charlie's place has become the latest victim of Hotlanta's nightlife scene and will be closing their doors forever after a farewell performance on June 4. This premiere venue will be sorely missed. However, the show will go on. Word is that the cast will be performing at WETBar on Fridays starting June 16 and that Charlie is looking to start up a drag dinner theater experience some time in October.

I can't wait to see what the delicious
Keisha Lorraine has cooked up for the event. If you've never checked out her raucous chronicle of the 2005 King and Queen of East Point contest, you simply must hop over to her site and check it out. I guarantee that you'll pee.

Of course, the show would not be complete without the East Point Possums themselves. Prissy Cilla, Shenitta Lott and Dina Daintymouth really throw themselves into fundraising every year for this very special event. They are true heroines of the community and big party animals to boot.

Be sure to mark your calendars so that you don't miss this worthwhile and wildly entertaining affair.

Smooches,
Daph

Honey I'd LOVE to go unleash my inner diva, but honey, once its out I don't know if I can shove it back into me or not. She's not a quiet little girl, I might scare Hotlanta, they'd think I was running rabid around town trying to find a husband!

Andy darling, it sounds to my slightly intoxicated ears like you just described any of the Jenkins clan. Fear not girl; just unleash!

Smooches,
