Fierce Fantasia

I have to admit that I'm a big American Idol fan. I tend to skip the audition phase when all the freaks who know full well that they can't really sing come out to embarrass themselves. But, when it gets down to the finalists, it's absolutely fascinating to see who rises to the challenge and who crumbles under the pressure.

For such a cheezy show, it has generated some truly magical musical moments: Kelly Clarkson nailing "Stuff Like That There"; Fantasia bringing the house down with "Summertime"; Clay Aiken having a diva meltdown on "Bridge Over Troubled Water". Granted, for every great performance, you do have to sit through a dozen Kellie Picklers and Nikki McKibbins.

Sure, everyone loves Kelly Clarkson. Her second album is undeniable pop perfection. Why, my sister Marsha Jenkins has performed nearly every song in Kelly's oeuvre. However, if I had to choose just one American Idol, it would be Fantasia. Her first release, Free Yourself, is the best debut of any Idol alumnae, even if it didn't sell as well as some of the others.

Fantasia Barrino Ft.Big Boi - Hood Boy

The good news is that Fantasia has a new release coming up. If this first single is any indication, it's going to be HOT! The video is downright sizzling. Be sure to check out those fierce feathered eyelashes Tasia is sporting. Girl is workin' some serious Jenkins style.

Smooches,
Daph
